QUESTIONS & ANSWERSFrequently asked questions

Do you undertake smaller landscaping jobs?
Yes. Although Jack of Spades undertakes complete garden transformations and larger projects, smaller jobs remain an important part of the work. Get in touch with an outline of what you need and we can advise whether it is suitable.
Do you offer complete garden transformations?
Yes. Larger projects can be taken from initial ideas and garden design through construction, planting and ongoing aftercare.
Do you provide garden design?
Yes. Garden design can range from developing ideas on site to producing a more formal layout for a complete transformation.
Can you produce CAD garden drawings?
Yes. Professional CAD garden drawings are available where a formal plan is useful. They provide a clear way to understand and refine the proposed layout before construction.
How much does CAD garden design cost?
CAD garden design is available from £250 + VAT. The scope depends on the project and the level of design work required.
Can you work from an existing garden design?
Yes. If you already have a design or a clear brief, we can discuss the practical landscaping and construction required to deliver it.
What paving materials do you install?
Options include porcelain, sandstone, limestone, reclaimed brick and block paving. The material is selected around the style of the garden, intended use, exposure and maintenance requirements.
Do you build ponds and streams?
Yes. We build naturalistic ponds and streams using modern Aquascape systems, biological filtration, natural stone, boulders and planting.
Do you maintain ponds?
Pond and stream maintenance is offered for water features constructed by Jack of Spades Landscaping, so the team knows how the system was originally installed.
Do you provide garden maintenance and aftercare?
Yes. Ongoing horticultural maintenance is available, particularly for gardens we have landscaped. Visits can be arranged weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on the property.
What areas do you cover?
We work throughout East Sussex, including Eastbourne, Bexhill, Hastings, Battle, Hailsham and surrounding areas. Larger or particularly suitable projects may also be considered elsewhere in Sussex.
Can you deal with steep gardens and changes in level?
Yes. Projects can include excavation, reinforced retaining walls, natural stone walling, drainage, stairs and other work needed to make sloping or awkward gardens more usable.
Can you work where access is restricted?
Yes, depending on the site. Previous projects have involved narrow side access and unusual machinery access, so access constraints are considered during planning.
Are you insured and qualified?
Jack of Spades Landscaping is fully insured and NVQ qualified, and has been established since 2005.
How do I get started?
Contact us with your name, location, phone number, email address and a brief description of the work. Photos are useful if you have them. We can then discuss the next step.
